Mulga Wins on Debut for Watkins Stable

Super youngster Mulga by Vital Equine broke through for his maiden win at Northam on Monday. Mulga made it two from two for the team with stablemate Imabluebagger taking out the Toodyay cup on the Sunday. Jumping from a wide gate Pike had no choice to take him back to last and then when he proved too strong for the company take him three wide the journey. On straightening Mulga kicked away to win easily by 3 lengths, Trainer Bruce Watkins said "He's a great young horse that we broke in as a yearling and I have confidence he is a classy athlete". Owner and breeder Dick Vincent lives not far from the stable and enjoys dropping in regularly to catch up with Bruce and Mulga.
