Bruce began his professional horse training career as a young child breaking in ponies with his twin brother and father in Springsure, 400km inland of Rockhampton, Queensland.

He became a very successful saddle bronc rider, winning many titles including as a 16 year old, at the Mt Isa Rodeo, and in the USA. He retired from bronc riding with the birth of his first child.

Bruce moved to WA approximately 20 years ago where he worked for legendary trainer Kevin Lever.

Eleven years ago Bruce, his wife Liz and the family moved down to Capel where Bruce began training full time. Many winners followed, mostly for small local breeders who enjoy their horses racing over several years.

With one of the top strike rates in the state and regularly being in the top ten for WA City trainers, he’s had some great horses under his care including Group One winner and ex WA Horse of the year El Presidente, Danny Beau, Charlie Beau, Kerrific, Rose of Choice and Peggies Dream.
